Euro Commercials is proud to recognise the dedication and experience of several long-serving members of its South West Parts team, who are celebrating an impressive 17 years of service. Their careers have helped keep Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles on the road across the South West, supporting customers with expert parts knowledge and exceptional service.
Neil, Parts Manager at Euro Commercials Avonmouth, Sonia, Parts Driver at Avonmouth, and Darral, Parts Advisor at Exeter, all began their careers at the former South West dealership on the very same year in 2009. Following Euro Commercials' acquisition of the South West dealerships, they have continued their journey as valued members of the wider Euro Commercials family, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to customers across the region.
17 years of commitment is a remarkable achievement, reflecting not only their loyalty to the business but also the experience, professionalism and customer-focused approach they bring to the Parts operation every day.
Their combined experience reflects the importance of a knowledgeable Parts team in supporting businesses that rely on their Mercedes-Benz vans and trucks every day. From sourcing Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts to helping minimise vehicle downtime, their commitment continues to play a vital role in delivering excellent customer service.
For Neil, the start of his career marked an exciting new chapter.
"I remember the excitement of taking on a new challenge, moving from car parts into commercial vehicle parts," he said.
Sonia also recalls those early days, admitting she felt nervous as she started her new role.
Over the years, the Parts department has evolved significantly. Improvements in manufacturer systems, electronic parts catalogues (EPC), digital technology and more efficient stock management have transformed the way Parts teams support customers.
Darral has witnessed these changes first-hand.
"The improvements to the EPC system and parts locations have made a real difference," he explained.
Sonia agrees that advances in technology have been one of the biggest changes throughout her career.
Whether it's helping a workshop source the correct component or ensuring a delivery reaches a customer on time, every member of the Parts team contributes to keeping businesses moving.
For Neil, the greatest reward comes from solving problems.
"There's real job satisfaction in providing the correct parts to get a vehicle back on the road with minimum downtime."
Darral enjoys hearing positive feedback from customers, while Sonia values the relationships she's built over the years and enjoys meeting customers across the South West.
The transition to Euro Commercials has brought new opportunities while maintaining the team's customer-first approach.
Neil describes the move as a smooth transition, noting that many of the working processes were already familiar. Since becoming part of the larger dealership group, he has seen improvements in customer satisfaction thanks to enhanced service levels.
Sonia says what has stood out most is how "friendly and approachable" everyone has been.
Darral summed up the experience simply:
"It's been great and the new family is awesome."
When asked what has kept them motivated throughout their careers, the answers reflected a shared passion for helping customers.
For Neil, it's the challenge of problem-solving and the satisfaction of finding the right solution. Sonia simply says she enjoys her job, while Darral believes attention to detail is one of the most important qualities for anyone entering the commercial vehicle parts industry.
"Be motivated and have an eye for detail," he advises.
Reflecting on reaching 17 years of service, Darral says it represents being "a valued member of the many teams I've been in," while Sonia is looking ahead towards retirement after many years of dedicated service. For Neil, the milestone reflects a career built on problem-solving, customer service and helping businesses keep their vehicles on the road.
Collectively, Neil, Sonia and Darral have contributed more than 50 years of experience to the South West Parts operation. Their knowledge of Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts, commitment to customer service and dedication to keeping commercial vehicles on the road continue to make a real difference to customers across Avonmouth, Exeter and the wider South West.
Their stories are a reminder that behind every Mercedes-Benz Genuine Part, every successful repair and every vehicle returned to the road is a team of experienced professionals dedicated to supporting customers every day.
