Strengthening Parts Excellence: Euro Commercials Appoints Horace as Head of Parts 

Euro Commercials is proud to introduce Horace as its Head of Parts, bringing extensive experience across engineering, automotive, and commercial vehicle sectors to further strengthen the company’s parts operations.

Horace began his career as a toolmaker, working in engineering and the manufacturing of engine components. He later moved into vehicle repair as a mechanic, gaining valuable hands-on experience in car garages. This technical grounding gave him a strong understanding of how vehicles operate, which would prove invaluable as his career progressed.

He transitioned into the parts sector through a local motor factor before moving into dealer parts departments, working with manufacturers including Nissan. He then spent around 10 years within an engineering company producing medium-speed diesel engines for global ferry and commercial shipping markets, broadening his technical and commercial expertise.

Horace’s journey into the commercial vehicle sector began with DAF, followed by more than 12.5 years with Scania GB. During this time, he played a key role in developing parts operations and supporting significant sales growth across the network.

Speaking about his decision to join Euro Commercials, Horace highlights the company’s vision and ambition. “Euro Commercials stood out because of its positive outlook and forward-thinking approach. The role offered autonomy, along with a clear opportunity to elevate the performance and profile of the parts department within the business,” he says.

As Head of Parts, Horace’s focus is on driving performance, strengthening operational discipline, and supporting his teams through strong leadership and communication. His day-to-day responsibilities centre around coaching, guiding, and ensuring the parts operation runs efficiently while delivering consistent results.

A structured approach sits at the core of his strategy. By aligning operations with best practices, Horace ensures a solid foundation for growth. From there, the emphasis is placed on developing both internal and external sales, while maintaining a high standard of service for customers.

The parts department plays a critical role within Euro Commercials. Beyond its commercial impact, it is essential in keeping customers’ vehicles operational and minimising downtime—an area that remains a key focus under Horace’s leadership.

For Horace, a successful parts operation is built on a strong customer focus, effective communication, and a collaborative team environment. “It’s about supporting both internal and external customers, working closely across departments, and creating a positive, motivated team culture,” he explains.

Delivering high levels of customer service remains a priority. Through continuous improvement, attention to detail, and clear communication, Horace and his team are focused on maintaining consistency and reliability for every customer interaction.

Among his career highlights, Horace points to his role in supporting the Scania network in achieving success in the parts sales department across 28 branches. He is also passionate about developing teams, encouraging a more entrepreneurial mindset and empowering individuals to take ownership of their performance.

Looking ahead, Horace has already begun implementing a series of structured improvements focused on strengthening team performance, enhancing customer experience, and driving greater consistency across the parts operation. These initiatives are designed to build capability, increase accountability, and support long-term growth.

In a competitive and fast-moving industry, Horace believes that forward planning and adaptability are essential. 

“It’s about thinking ahead, planning for the future, and remaining agile enough to respond to change,” he says.

Outside of work, Horace enjoys spending time with his two grandchildren, as well as staying active through cycling, running, badminton, and table tennis. More recently, he has taken up roller and ice skating—often alongside his grandchildren—bringing energy and enthusiasm to both his professional and personal life.
