Euro Commercials Supports PragmaCharge’s Transition to Electric Freight with Eight Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 Trucks

Euro Commercials has supplied eight Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks to PragmaCharge, supporting the logistics operator’s move towards lower-emission freight transport and marking a significant milestone in its fleet electrification journey.

The deployment represents an important step in James Kemball’s sustainability strategy, bringing together advanced electric truck technology, dedicated charging infrastructure and operational expertise to support the future of its transport operations.

Working alongside project partners PragmaCharge and Envevo, Euro Commercials has played a key role in helping bring the electric fleet to the road, supplying the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks selected to meet the operator’s requirements.

Based at James Kemball’s Felixstowe Mega Distribution Centre, the new fleet will predominantly support deliveries within a 250-mile round-trip radius. With a minimum range of 310 miles (500 km) on a single charge, the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is designed to support demanding long-distance transport operations while helping businesses reduce their reliance on diesel.

The wider project also includes dedicated charging infrastructure, with three 360 kW Heliox chargers enabling 6 trucks to be charged simultaneously. Supported by the facility’s rooftop solar generation, this investment provides a foundation for James Kemball to develop its electric fleet and explore further opportunities for decarbonising its operations.

A partnership approach to fleet electrification

For Euro Commercials, the project demonstrates the importance of working closely with customers to identify the right vehicle technology for their operational requirements.

Max Bemrose, Truck Sales Executive at Euro Commercials, said:

“We are incredibly pleased and grateful to be working alongside James Kemball and PragmaCharge to help electrify an operation of this size and capability, and for the opportunity in providing the vehicles to enable this.

“The excitement has been apparent from the beginning of this journey from all parties concerned, we have taken that on ourselves as Euro Commercials and have felt part of that journey.”

Nathan Notley, eConsultant at Euro Commercials, added:

“The fit of the Actros e600 seemed the obvious choice for both PragmaCharge and James Kemball thanks to its exceptional range, efficiency and charging speeds of up to 400 kW (CCS 2). This is coupled with the fact that it is also future-proofed with Megawatt charging, allowing ample time for adaptation into a challenging and changing future.

“With its 4-speed eAxle, LFP battery technology and the latest in safety features, we are sure that these will exceed the expectations with the operational teams and drivers alike.”

Supporting the future of commercial transport

The introduction of the eight electric trucks is expected to deliver significant environmental benefits. The fleet is projected to cover approximately 560,000 miles annually, with estimated savings of 600 tonnes of CO₂ emissions and around 242,000 litres of diesel each year compared with conventional diesel-powered operations.

Beyond the environmental impact, the transition also provides an opportunity for James Kemball to evaluate the operational and commercial benefits of electric freight transport, including vehicle utilisation, driver experience and long-term fleet efficiency.

Driver training will form an important part of the transition, ensuring teams are equipped with the knowledge needed to operate the new technology effectively.

As businesses across the transport and logistics sector continue to explore lower-emission solutions, projects such as this demonstrate how collaboration, suitable vehicle technology and investment in infrastructure can help make fleet electrification a practical consideration for heavy goods vehicle operations.

Euro Commercials is proud to support James Kemball on this important step in its electrification journey, helping bring Daimler electric truck technology to an operation looking towards the future of freight transport.
