Moss Electrical, a leading UK supplier to electrical contractors, has expanded its fleet with the addition of two new Mercedes-Benz Atego 816 trucks, supplied by Euro Commercials. The latest investment reinforces a long-standing partnership and underlines the company’s commitment to reliability, safety and operational efficiency. Re-established in 1992 by Robert Moss, Moss Electrical has grown into a nationwide operation serving customers from key locations in London, Bridgend and Manchester. Reliable transport remains at the heart of its logistics network, supporting the fast-paced demands of the wholesale electrical market across London and the South East.
“Fleet reliability is the first thing that comes to mind when choosing vehicles for the company,” said Lee O’Connor, Warehouse Manager at Moss Electrical.
“Our vehicles need to be dependable because they are essential to our daily operations, and fortunately breakdowns are extremely rare.”
The newly delivered Atego 816 trucks feature S type day cabs and are fitted with 20 ft curtain sider bodies, internal fall arrest systems and tuckaway tail lifts with safety guards. These specifications ensure compliance with strict construction site regulations while enhancing driver safety during loading and unloading.
Moss Electrical has been purchasing Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles since 1992 and has built a strong, long-term relationship with Euro Commercials, who have managed the company’s fleet requirements across both vans and trucks. The business has consistently chosen trusted models such as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Atego ranges.
The relationship is supported by dedicated account management, with Huw Salway overseeing HGV requirements, including the latest Atego delivery, and Adam Jonesmanaging the company’s Sprinter fleet since 2018
“The Atego has always been the company’s vehicle of choice,” O’Connor added.
“Its reliability, performance and suitability for our operations make it a natural choice whenever we expand or update the fleet.”
A key milestone for Moss Electrical is the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz Powershift gearbox, marking the company’s first move away from manual transmissions. Operating in busy urban environments such as the City of London, the automated gearbox is expected to deliver smoother driving, improved safety and enhanced driver comfort.
The trucks are powered by a proven 156bhp Mercedes-Benz diesel engine and will operate from the company’s Dartford head office depot. They will play a vital role in supporting distribution while also contributing to improved environmental performance.
To maximise uptime, the vehicles are covered by a six-year Mercedes-Benz repair and maintenance contract, carried out across the nationwide dealer network. This provides Moss Electrical with peace of mind, reduced downtime and consistent vehicle performance throughout the lifecycle of the trucks.
Driver wellbeing has also been prioritised, with operators praising the Atego’s ease of use and comfort. Meanwhile, advanced safety features such as fall-assist straps and tail-lift protection systems help ensure compliance both in depot operations and on regulated construction sites.
Reflecting on the long-standing partnership, O’Connor commented:
“Moss Electrical has been purchasing Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles since 1992 and that is something we don’t see changing. Euro Commercials has also been a reliable and trusted partner for many years. The relationship has always remained strong.”
This latest fleet addition highlights how Moss Electrical and Euro Commercials continue to work collaboratively to deliver reliable, safe and future-ready transport solutions for the UK’s electrical wholesale sector.
