PD Barnes strengthens fleet with an Actros L ProCabin from Euro Commercials.
Euro Commercials is proud to deliver another exceptional Mercedes‑Benz Actros to valued customer PD Barnes Contracting Ltd, based in Highbridge, Somerset.
Pete and Diane Barnes have been part of the Euro Commercials family since 2017, when they purchased their first Mercedes‑Benz truck from Sales Executive Tim Sutcliffe.
That first Actros GigaSpace – originally green and grey – was transformed into a striking pearlescent white, marking the beginning of a strong and trusted partnership.

Since then, PD Barnes has continued to grow their Mercedes‑Benz fleet, choosing the Actros range for its comfort, efficiency, and reliability on demanding long‑haul routes.

Their latest addition, a Mercedes‑Benz Actros L 2553LS ProCabin Giga, joins the business as an ex‑demonstrator with under 10,000 km and a highly advanced specification, perfectly suited to their operations.

Built for Performance and Efficiency

PD Barnes’ trucks work hard, covering around 140,000 kilometres per year on long‑haul journeys from Somerset to Scotland, transporting steel products north and returning with bedding for farms and stables across Berkshire.
To ensure this new Actros meets their exact needs, Euro Commercials tailored it with upgrades including light bars, air horns, side skirts, a catwalk, inverter, additional cameras, a TV aerial, and an enhanced lighting setup.

The new ProCabin joins the fleet alongside the existing 22‑plate Actros L 2553, which remains in service and has been passed to Anthony within the business.
It replaces an earlier 19‑plate Actros5 2553LS GigaSpace, continuing PD Barnes’ strategy of investing in the latest Actros technology for efficiency and driver comfort.
The original green/grey Actros GigaSpace that was repainted pearlescent white covered well over 800,000 kilometres in service and had reached approximately 1,100,000 kilometres at the point of sale.
The 22‑plate Actros L 2553 has delivered around 7,000 litres of annual fuel savings versus the pearlescent white predecessor, demonstrating the efficiency gains achieved with newer Actros models.

Maintained and Supported by Euro Commercials

Both of PD Barnes’ trucks are fully supported by Euro Commercials’ Highbridge depot under Mercedes‑Benz Repair & Maintenance contracts, ensuring maximum uptime and peace of mind.
