Scott Mills Launches New Podcast to Celebrate Van Life– Breakfast show DJ Scott Mills has launched the UK’s first-ever podcast designed specifically for van drivers. Created in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Vans, the Under the Bonnet podcast brings together celebrity guests and everyday heroes to uncover what drives Britain’s van-driving community.
Scott, 52, whose dad ran a removals business, recorded the series from the front seat of a specially adapted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter — celebrating 30 years of the iconic van.
Talking Mental Health and the Changing Face of Van Drivers. The second episode takes a more personal turn as Scott opens up about his own mental health journey in a heartfelt conversation with van driver David Curtis. Together, they explore the pressures of life on the road. According to the Under the Bonnet report, 65% of van drivers have experienced depression or anxiety — a reality the podcast tackles with honesty and empathy.
Van Drivers: Britain’s Barometer on the Road. New findings from the second annual Under the Bonnet report by Mercedes-Benz Vans reveal van drivers can sense the nation’s mood by observing road behaviour. A striking 84% say they can judge the emotional climate of the UK by how other drivers behave. And in an unexpected twist, potholes have now overtaken football as the number one topic of road-side conversation.
A Voice for Van Drivers — From Radio to the Road. Scott Mills says his inspiration came from growing up in his dad’s van, and now, with this new podcast, he’s come full circle. “I’ve seen first-hand the vital role van drivers play in the UK,” he said. “They’re the unsung heroes who keep everything moving.”
